And of the GADITES there SEPARATE THEMSELVES unto DAVID into the stronghold to the wilderness MEN OF MIGHT, and MEN OF WAR fit for the BATTLE, that COULD HANDLE SHIELD AND SPEAR, whose FACES WERE LIKE THE FACES OF LIONS, and were as SWIFT AS THE GAZELLES UPON THE MOUNTAINS.
EZER the first, OBADIAH the second, ELIAB the third, MISHMANNAH the fourth, JEREMIAH the fifth, ATTAI the sixth, ELIEL the seventh, JOHANAN the eight, ELZABAD the ninth, JEREMIAH the tenth, MACHBANAI the eleventh.
These were of the SONS OF GAD, CAPTAINS OF THE HOST. One of the least was over a hundred, and the greatest over a thousand. These are they that went over the JORDAN in the First Month, when it had overflown all his banks; and they put to flight everyone of the valleys, both toward the EAST, and toward the WEST.
And there came OF the CHILDREN of BENJAMIN and JUDAH to the hold unto DAVID. And DAVID went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them : "IF YOU COME PEACEABLY UNTO ME TO HELP ME, MINE HEART SHALL BE KNIT UNTO YOU. But IF YOU COME TO BETRAY ME TO MINE ENEMIES WHEN MY HANDS ARE FREE FROM VIOLENCE, MAY GOD OF OUR FATHERS SEE IT AND JUDGE YOU."
Then the SPIRIT CAME upon AMASAI, who was CHIEF of the CAPTAINS, and he said: "WE ARE YOURS O DAVID! WE ARE WITH YOU, O SON OF JESSE! SUCCESS, SUCCESS TO YOU, AND SUCCESS TO those WHO HELP YOU, for YOUR GOD WILL HELP YOU."
Then DAVID received them, and MADE THEM CAPTAINS OF THE BAND.

The MIGHTY MEN of King DAVID. Part ONE
These were the CHIEFS of DAVID's mighty men. They together with all Israel, gave his kingship strong support to extend it over the whole land, as the Lord had promised.
This is the LIST of DAVID's mighty men:
JASHO BEAM, an Hachmonite, the chief of captains. He lifted up his spear against three hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter.
And after him was ELEAZ AR the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the Three mightiest.
He was with David at PAS- DAMMIM, and THERE the Philistines were gathered together to battle.
At a place where there was a FIELD FULL of BARLEY, the troops fled from the Philistines.
And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the Lord saved them by a great deliverance.
Now THREE of the THIRTY CAPTAINS went down to the rock to DAVID, into the CAVE of ADULLAM; and the HOST of the PHILISTINES encamped in the VALLEY of REPHAIM.
And DAVID was then in the hold, and the PHILISTINES's garrison was then at BETH-LEHEM.
And DAVID longed, and said, "Oh that one would give me a DRINK OF WATER FROM the WELL NEAR the GATE OF BETH-LEHEM!"
And the THREE (of the thirty) BROKE THROUGH the PHILISTINE lines, and DREW WATER OUT OF THE WELL OF BETH-LEHEM, that was by the gate, and TOOK IT and BROUGHT IT TO DAVID.
But DAVID WOULD NOT DRINK OF IT, instead HE POURED IT OUT BEFORE THE LORD.
(He didn't want to drink from the water of the flesh).
And said, "MY GOD FORBID IT ME, THAT I SHOULD DO THIS THING." "Shall I drink THE BLOOD OF THESE MEN that have put their LIVES IN JEOPARDY?" "For WITH the JEOPARDY OF THEIR LIVES THEY BROUGHT IT."
Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these THREE MIGHTIEST.
And ABISH-AI the brother of JOAB, he WAS CHIEF OF THE THREE, for lifting up HIS SPEAR AGAINST THREE HUNDRED, he SLEW THEM, and HAD A NAME AMONG the THREE.
Of the THREE, HE WAS MORE HONOURABLE than the two, for HE WAS THEIR CAPTAIN, even though HE ATTAINED NOT TO THE FIRST THREE.
BENAI-AH the son of JEHOI-ADA, the son of a valiant man of KABZE-EL, who had done many acts; HE SLEW TWO LIONLIKE MEN OF MOAB. Also HE WENT DOWN and SLEW a LION IN A PIT IN A SNOWY DAY. And HE SLEW AN EGYPTIAN, a man of great stature, FIVE CUBITS HIGH (seven and a half feet); and in the EGYPTIAN 's HAND WAS A SPEAR LIKE A WEAVER's BEAM; and HE WENT DOWN TO HIM WITH A STAFF, and PLUCKED the SPEAR OUT of the Egyptian's hand, and SLEW HIM WITH HIS OWN SPEAR.
These things did BENAI-AH the son of JEHOI-ADA, and HAD A NAME AMONG THE the THREE MIGHTIEST.
Behold, HE WAS HONOURABLE AMONG the THIRTY, but ATTAINED NOT TO THE FIRST THREE.
And DAVID SET HIM OVER HIS GUARD.

WISDOM IS A SHE SPIRIT.
WISDOM builds her house, but FOLLY with HER HANDS tears it down. (Proverbs 14:1).
WISDOM cries aloud in the street; in the markets SHE raises her voice; on the top of the walls SHE cries out; at the entrance of the city gates SHE speaks: "How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge?"
Give heed to my reproof; behold, I will pour out my thoughts to you; I will make my words known to you. Because I have called and you refused to listen, have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded, and you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof.
I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when panic strikes you like a storm, and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. (Proverbs 1:20-27).
Then they will call upon me but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me.
Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the FEAR OF THE LORD, would have none of my counsel, and despised all my reproof. Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way and be sated with their own devices.
For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacence of fools destroys them; but he who listen to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of evil. (Proverbs 1:28-33).
By WISDOM a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.(Proverbs 24:3-4).
A wise man is mightier than a strong man, and a man of knowledge than he who has strength; for by the wise guidance you can wage your war, and in abundance of counsellors there is victory.
(Proverbs 24:5-6).
If you say, "Behold, we did not know this," does not HE who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not HE who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will HE not require man according to his work?
(Proverb 24:12).
My son, eat honey, for it is good, and the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste.
Know that WISDOM is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not cut off. (Proverbs 24:13-14).

A GOOD WIFE, who can find?
Proverbs 31: 10-31
A good wife, who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
Her HUSBAND HAS FULL CONFIDENCE IN HER, and he will have no lack of gain.
She BRINGS HIM GOOD ALL THE DAYS OF HER LIFE.
She SELECTS WOOL AND FLAX AND WORK WITH EAGER HANDS.
She IS LIKE MERCHANT SHIPS, BRINGING HER FOOD FROM AFAR.
She GETS UP WHILE STILL IS DARK; she PROVIDES FOOD FOR HER FAMILY and portions for her servant girls.
She CONSIDERS A FIELD AND BUY IT; OUT OF HER EARNINGS (with the fruit of her hand) she PLANT A VINEYARD.
She SETS ABOUT HER WORK VIGOROUSLY (girds her loins with strength) her ARMS ARE STRONG for her task.
She PERCEIVES THAT HER MERCHANDISE IS PROFITABLE (sees that her trading is profitable).
Her LAMP DOES NOT GO OUT AT NIGHT.
She PUTS HER HANDS TO THE DISTAFF (in her hand she holds the distaff) and HER HANDS HOLD THE SPINDLE (and grasps the spindle with her fingers).
She OPENS HER HAND TO THE POOR (opens her arms to the poor), and REACHES OUT HER HANDS TO THE NEEDY (extends her hands to the needy).
She is NOT AFRAID OF SNOW FOR HER HOUSEHOLD (when it snows, she has no fear), for ALL HER HOUSEHOLD ARE CLOTHED IN SCARLET (all of them are clothed in scarlet).
She MAKES HERSELF COVERINGS (make coverings for her bed); her clothing IS FINE LINEN AND PURPLE.
Her husband is known in the gates (respected at the city gate), when he sits among the elders of the land.
She MAKES LINEN GARMENTS AND SELLS THEM; she DELIVERS GIRDLES TO THE MERCHANT (supplies the merchants with sashes).
She IS CLOTHED WITH STRENGTH AND DIGNITY (strength and dignity are her clothing); and she laughs AT THE TIME TO COME (can laugh at the days to come).
She OPENS HER MOUTH WITH WISDOM (speaks with wisdom), and the teaching of KINDNESS
IS ON HER TONGUE (faithful instruction is on her tongue).
She WATCHES OVER THE AFFAIRS OF HER HOUSEHOLD, and DOES NOT EAT THE BREAD OF IDLENESS.
Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her : "Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all."
CHARM IS DECEITFUL, and BEAUTY IS VAIN, BUT A WOMAN WHO FEARS THE LORD IS TO BE PRAISED. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.
