ABRAHAMISM is the definition given to the monotheistic FAITH of the followers to Judaism, Christianity, and Islamism, emphasizing and tracing their common origin to ABRAHAM.
ABRAHAM is a key figure in their religious texts. Abraham's story is essentially the history of the establishment of THE COVENANT between ABRAHAM and GOD.
God calls Abraham to leave his land, family, and household in the earthly world in return for a new land, family, and inheritance in Canaan, the promise land situated in a higher dimensional level.
Threats to the covenant arise, also difficulties in producing a heir, as well as the thread of bondage in Egypt, and lack of fear of God. Finally all are overcome and the COVENANT IS ESTABLISHED.
Abraham's story ends with the death and burial of his wife Sarah in a grave which he has purchased in HEBRON (a place in which all believers go and wait until the judgment day come), followed by the marriage of his heir Isaac to a wife from his own people (Abraham's ancestors).
These two episodes signify : - first THE RIGHT OF HIS DESCENDANTS TO THE LAND,
- second THE EXCLUSION OF THE LAND's PREVIOUS INHABITANTS, the CANAANITES, FROM ISRAEL' S PATRIMONY.
Abrahamic religion simply mean that all of them come from one spiritual source. All conceive GOD to be a transcendent Creator-figure and the source of moral law, also they believe that GOD transcend knowledge that is beyond the grasp of the human mind.
In their religious experience transcendence is a state of being that has overcome the limitations of physical existence and become independent of it.
All of them affirm the existence of ONE ETERNAL GOD who rules history, also GOD guides humanity and speak of a choice between good and evil, which is associated with obedience or disobedience to Divine Law.
