"My GOD, My GOD, why have you forsaken me?" By Angela Bernales

When JESUS was dying on the TORTURE STAKE at about the NINTH HOUR, he called out : "E'li, E'li, la'ma sabachtha'ni?" which means "My GOD, My GOD, why have you forsaken me?"
E'li is mentioned at this specific spiritual time because IT IS the exact time in which the position, office or service of the fleshy man over GOD's people ended and the image of GOD in his truly people was redeemed through JESUS CHRIST, his only begotten son.
The spiritual figure of E'li as high priest and judge over God's people, lax in applying God's discipline through the law, ordinances and statutes given to him. His two sons, Hophni and Phinehas served as officiating priests, but they were only interested in satisfying their bellies. They were not content with the portion of the sacrifice assigned to them by God's spiritual law, they just set their own rules and served themselves. They even went ahead of God by having an attendant that demand 'raw meat' from the offerer 'before making the fat smoke upon the altar.' E'li's greedy and sensual sons carry on vice and theft 'at the tent of meeting' at the expense of God's pure worship. Even they performed 'immoral inter-course with the 'women who serve at the entrance of the tabernacle.' In the spiritual language, it means meddling with evil forces acting on the body of those women (churches)who were weak in spirit and followed the desires of the flesh. These boys were serving inside the tabernacle and, with their actions, they were polluting the HOUSE of GOD. E'li, as a father, did not bust them from office but merely rebuked them mildly. He kept honoring his sons more than the Lord GOD.
In the course of the spiritual time, a prophet of God came with the message that "THE POWER and INFLUENCE of the HOUSE of E'LI is to be CHOPPED OFF ... his CORRUPTED SONS are appointed to DIE IN ONE DAY." The spiritual Israel lost 4,000 souls in battle with the Philistines. The spiritual Israel, without God's power, tried to exercise  power on their own having the decision of getting the Ark as an amulet, from SHILOH and to bring it into the camp, thinking that this will result in deliverance from their enemies. But everything went wrong. The Ark was captured and both sons died. A man from Benjamin brought the report to the ninety-eight-year-old, blind and feeble E'li.
He, as usual, sitting down by the roadside, a perfect spot to observe and judge, got the news. He died on the spot.  The HOUSE of E'LI ceased, and JESUS CHRIST was the redeemer of the true GOD's people.
