Their job was TO CARRY the DEAD to EMMA-O, the ruler and judge, who lived in an underground castle.
GOOD PEOPLE WERE REBORN, WHILE EVIL PEOPLE WERE SENT TO YOMI, the land of the dead. There, they would be tortured until their dead bodies were rotted away by maggots and TURNED INTO DEMONS TOO.
The DARK Lord of KAKURI YOMI is named EMMA-O. Emma-O is a calculated, thought out individual lacking mercy. Usually appearing in dreams or visions as a exceedingly tall man,wearing a long beard and cultivating a hairy appearance, with skin of OBSIDIAN, dressed in clothes bearing designs of battle, disease or death.
EMMA-O was the guide of the dead for the AINU PEOPLES of the islands of Japan. Revered as a benevolent deity, Emma-O gained great power and took upon himself to punish the wicked and protect the good. This worked well until the modern day inhabitants came, subjugating and decimating the AINU PEOPLE. Emma-O was furious and wanted revenge against the Japanese of the modern day.
EMMA-O has become what he hated. All he has is his desire for VENGEANCE.
