A belief in IMMORTALITY is expressed since the formation of the world, but little is said about the condition of MAN'S SOUL after dead. This topic is dealt with extensively in every culture from the past and present times. What it is maintained from the ancient beliefs is that the SOUL REMAINS ATTACHED TO THE PHYSICAL BODY AFTER DEATH for the first SEVEN DAYS, then IT MOVES SWIFTLY FROM ITS HOME TO THE BURIAL PLACE back and forth. This explains why, in ancient times, the initial mourning period was ONE WEEK.
FOR TWELVE MONTHS AFTER DEATH the SOUL ASCENDS and DESCENDS, until THE PHYSICAL BODY DECOMPOSE and RETURN TO THE GROUND (body disintegration).
Then THE SOUL IS FREED. When the freedom starts, the JOURNEY starts. The SOUL of the righteous are permitted to reincarnate to continue its perfection, while the ones of the unrighteous go to the refuge places located in GEHINNOM in which the battle for their souls appears to be a nightmare in purgatory either returning to live in the physical world suffering the consequences of their previous actions in earlier lives or as in the case of the wicked ones, becoming the property of the dark forces, using these condemned souls (they chose to sell their souls for the pleasures of the world) for their wicked purpose which is to catch more of them for the continuity of their existence. Chaos is the nurturing environment for them. In a world of peace they cease to exist.
The SOUL has its ROOT IN THE DIVINE WORLD. When we die we return to our spiritual home, whatever the condition of this spiritual home is. The life in earth is merely a form of exile in which we are permitted to exercise FREE WILL either for good or bad deeds.
The soul of MOSES, for example, attained a high rank of development, he is stereotyped as to one of the highest form of union with GOD.
